Introduction and Background

Can you share a bit about your role and journey within the company over the last 10 years?

I started as Admin & Logistics Coordinator, handling office tasks and supporting Sales and Finance. Over the years, I’ve grown into the role of Admin & Logistics Manager, overseeing a team and managing the admin and logistics operations for contractors.

Initial Impressions and Changes

What were your first impressions of the company when you joined, and how have things changed since then?

When I first joined, the company was smaller, and the atmosphere was more informal. Now, with our growth, there’s more structure and processes in place, but the core values of teamwork and innovation remain.

Growth and Development

Can you share an important moment or project that significantly contributed to your growth?

One significant moment that significantly contributed to my growth was during my tenure as an Admin & Logistics Coordinator. My primary responsibility was managing administrative and logistical aspects for contractors based in Abu Dhabi, Iraq, and the UK. I developed and maintained a comprehensive tracker that became my indispensable tool. This tracker covered vital details such as flights, work permits, residence visas, various site passes, etc.

Working closely with the PRO, I handled the coordination of approximately 40 to 50 consultants on a 28 x 28 rotation schedule. This experience was important in my professional development as it taught me the importance of meticulous attention to detail and impeccable organisation skills.

One mistake in managing contractor flight dates or their site access cards could have serious repercussions, emphasizing the critical nature of my role. This experience instilled in me a sense of responsibility and heightened my ability to manage high-pressure situations effectively.

Overall, this project was a big learning curve, helping me grow professionally by improving my skills and navigating high-stress situations.

Challenges and Overcoming Them

What challenges/if any, have you faced during your time here, and how did you overcome them?

During my time here, I've faced a few interesting challenges, but they were always all resolved amicably. One notable challenge was when I received a phone call late at night informing me that one of our contractors had been detained at the airport. The contractor was carrying a few bottles of pain relievers without prescriptions, which led to his detention. However, we were able to resolve the situation by presenting the doctor's prescription, attested at the MOFA, and the contractor was released after a few days. Luckily, that rarely happens and most of my months pass without an issue!

Looking back, is there a particular challenge that you now view as a valuable learning experience?

In hindsight, the challenge of handling the detained contractor taught me valuable lessons about crisis management, effective communication, and the importance of having proper documentation. It reinforced the significance of being prepared for unexpected situations and the importance of maintaining strong relationships with everyone. You never know who could help you in times of trouble :)

Memorable Moments and Achievements

What have been some of your most or your most memorable moments with the company?

There were quite a few memorable moments and achievements, but I wanted to share a couple. Although a few were challenging, an unexpected turn of events and have put us in a difficult situation, these instances still highlight the positive impact of our team’s dedication and commitment to providing exceptional service.

Additionally, receiving unexpected recognition and appreciation from the management as well as from consultants and clients, has been incredibly rewarding. It served as a testament to the strong relationships we’ve built with our clients and reaffirmed the quality of service our team provides.

Company Culture and Community

How would you describe the company culture, and how has it evolved over the years?

Our company culture has always been supportive and collaborative. As we’ve grown, we’ve maintained a strong sense of community which I would rather say – a family. During the team-building activities we attended recently in Edinburgh, we, the whole team have made us closer and more cohesive than ever. The culture here is one of inclusivity and mutual respect, where every team member’s voice is valued and heard. The team-building trip has indeed played a crucial role in strengthening our bonds and fostering a sense of camaraderie among colleagues.

From your perspective, how has the industry changed over the past decade, and how has the company adapted to these changes?

From my perspective, the industry has undergone significant changes over the past decade, particularly in the realm of recruitment software. Within our company, I've witnessed a continuous evolution in our recruitment processes, marked by the adoption of new software platforms. It's been an exciting journey, with our team regularly migrating documents and data from one software to another approximately every two years. This adaptability to changing technological landscapes reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of industry trends and ensuring that our recruitment practices remain efficient and effective.

Personal Highlights and Surprises

What aspect of your job or the company has surprised you the most over the years?

One aspect of my job that has continually amazed me over the years is the depth of trust our clients place in us. It’s truly surprising and humbling to receive queries from clients seeking our point of view, especially considering that we’re not their sole supplier. The fact that they value our input and trust our recommendations speaks volumes about the relationships we’ve built and the level of trust they have in our expertise. It’s a testament to the strong bonds we’ve forged with our clients and the reputation we’ve earned as trusted partners in their success.

Looking back, what moments or decisions stand out as turning points in your career here?

One turning point in my career here was when I took on a leadership role. It was a challenging but rewarding experience that allowed me to showcase my skills and make a significant impact on the success of the company.

Where do you see for both yourself and the company in the next few years?

I envision myself continuing to grow and take on new challenges within the company. As for the company, I see us expanding into new markets and leading the way in sustainable energy solutions.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career with WeConnect Energy?
